We LOVE her! Although we live in Apex and she is extremely convenient to us, I know people who are driving from the Triad and Wake Forest to see her. She supports our non-vaccination decision and our dietary protocol to heal our children's leaky guts (which is causing their multiple food allergies). She is open to any alternative ideas I've thrown her way. She is very much in support of breastfeeding and I cannot imagine her saying anything anti-BF or anti-AP. She also suggests homeopathic remedies before offering medical interventions/drugs. >From her website HYPERLINK "http://www.RamsdellPediatrics.com"www.RamsdellPediatrics.com : "Above all else, we believe that our parents are the best advocates for their child's health care. Nobody knows a child like their very own parent. We strongly encourage parents to take an active role in the decision-making processes regarding the health care choices available for their children. This includes vaccine choices, antibiotic choices, medication options, and alternative treatment therapies if available." I promised myself that when we hit 30 subscribers, I'd post a thread asking for introductions...and we're now up to 33, so I think it's past time. In the interest of making this quick and easy, I'll use a little template, but feel free to use whatever form pleases you. Name: Barbara Cameron Other people in my family: Steve (my husband), Maggie (almost 7), Anna (3-1/2), Ralph (cat), Mopsey (dog) I live in: Durham (Watts-Hillandale) I was born/grew up in: Champaign, IL Some things about me: I used to be (among other things) a teacher, cake decorator, scientist, and social worker. I love to cook and craft (both by myself and with my kids). Lately I'm particularly obsessed with knitting. My family participates in the Dream and Discover homeschool co-op. I'm a La Leche League Leader and I teach a breastfeeding class at UNC hospital. Some things about my kids: Maggie loves to read, especially mysteries, and lately fairy books; she has recently discovered jumping rope and is loving it. Anna loves any kind of play that involves water, especially pouring it in and out of containers. And glue (glittery or not), lots and lots of glue. Both my girls love to be outside--mostly playing in the yard and garden with me, a lot of hiking on the Eno with their dad. It is challenging as I prepare nearly everything we eat, but I believe the results will be worth the effort. I just took on the responsibility of organizing a co-op to deliver farm-fresh nourishing foods (grass-fed, free-range, 100% organic, raw dairy, etc. ) from Amos Miller, an Amish farmer in Pennsylvania. Some things about me: I ramble and tangent. I'm trying to finish up my certification as an infant massage educator (with Infant Massage USA/IAIM-Sweden) as well as my national certification as a massage therapist so I can finally be licensed in NC (I haven't worked on a body since August, I'm afraid I won't remember anything *sheepish grin*). I'm debating what to work on next: aromatherapy or Happiest Baby certifcation. Would like to open a 'clinic' for pediatric massage, infant massage classes, baby sign language, and excercise classes for kiddos and families (and homeschoolers *wink*). I'm allergic to most fresh fruits and veggies and some processed versions of them; as well as most nuts and soy. I'm a sedentary night-owl (with active morning children); previously worked retail and clerical/admin assist. I have to admit to being a sucker for Gossip Girl--wish it was on at 9pm so it didn't interfere with bedtime running over, need to figure out how to get the VCR to record on schedule. *wink* I found this list due to finding Dream and Discover (pick me! pick me! *lol*), which I found because of mothering.com. at least I think that's where i found dream and discover.... Some things about our family: DH is pro-PS, I'm pro-HS. We have dueling ultimatums: I said it's not up for debate anymore until HE does his own research on HS, and he said that O is going to PS if he doesn't do seat work everyday. We like to go four-wheeling, watch racing and football (go Trojans). We're not basketball people. *lol* DH and I moved to NC Jan 2000, we retreated to family Dec 2005 so we could make mortgage and we were able to return to our home this past August. DH is originally from CA, we met in AZ, NC is HOME. We use amblesideonline.org as our curricular framework, saxon for math, talking letters and phonics pathways for phonics. we're trying to get an organic/natural garden going with an eye for selling at the carrboro farmer's market in a season or two as part of our schooling. We're on 2.47 acres, part mud, part woods, with a creek through the back woods--y'all are welcome to play *grin*. We're not as AP/NL as we want, ought, or need to be, but we're trying to find our way back and progress further. Some things about my kids: Oscar is my smokey campfire, he's got spunk to him but he tends to whine and grump a lot. I'm proud of what a good kid he is, especially given all the chaos of the last couple of years. Ivan is my nepalm-induced bonfire. Two speeds: go and go faster. *lol* He's a demolition man, will take apart or tear apart just about anything he can access by any means and is fascinated with trying to figure things out. He's a sweet snuggler and very affectionate. Both are pretty chatty, but Ivan (I usually refer to him as IR online) is difficult to understand still. we're starting to work on enunciation and hopefully it'll clear up as quickly as it did with O. chat soon! --------------------------------- You rock. I went to school for weaving, so I enjoy all things fiber, though right now I don't find too much time for that. About my family: Annabelle loves to dance and dressup, and loves getting messy and playing in the mud. She loves reading books, (right now we are reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz). She loves to play with other kids (pretending games, sports, or just running around). Max is at that amazing age where he is right on verge of crawling. He is in love with his big sister.
