Dr. Vines is totally awesome and will never question your decisions. I have heard some talk that he isn't taking new patients, though.

On Tue, Apr 1, 2008 at 8:54 AM, <boonebaby@gmail.com> wrote:
Are you on the Chapel Hill/Durham Alternative Parenting yahoo list?
It's a local source for AP parents. No topic, just whatever we want to
talk about, tips, and a ton of Q&A. It's a great resource. We just
had a discussion about doctors.
My son and husband have been seeing Dain Vines at Avalon Medical in CH
for about three years now. As a no-vaxing, extended breastfeeding,
co-sleeping, homeopathic-centric mother, I couldn't be happier (and he
knows all of this). Vines is a wonderful doctor for children and truly
respectful of parents' personal philosophies and approaches. He isn't
accepting new child patients but I heard that if an adult sees him or
one of the other doctors in the practice (I really like Neva
Bartholomew as my doctor and Heather Fahey the nurse), you can then get
your children in for Vines. And he's a great doctor for people, like my
husband, who suddenly become mute once they enter a doctor's office.
I don't know where you are but there is a practice in Raleigh called
Sunshine or Sunrise that is also supposed to be great.

So we are not super happy
with our Dr. She is nice
enough, but I am tired of the unwanted advice to let my 2 month old
learn to
soothe himself and that I could pump my breastmilk and so I could feed
him with
a bottle (why?) and that at this point (he is now 6 months) there is no
reason
to nurse at night. So anyway, I am wishing for a Dr who will respect
my
parenting and give me the medical advice I actually ask for. Anyone
have
a Dr they love or at least like? My preference would be a family dr
we could all go to, but a ped is fine too.
